UNITED LOANEE WINS GOAL AWARD

Manchester United loanee Jesse Lingard has won the goal award in the Premier League for the month of April for his sensational strike againstWolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux. England international attacker Lingard is on loan at West Ham United from Manchester United and he has been a regular goalscorer for the Hammers. He signed for West Ham United on loan during the winter transfer window.

Lingard was rewarded with the goal award for his excellent strike against Wolves. He picked up the ball ten yards into his own half before proceeding on an unstoppable run that ended with a fine strike that Portugal international shot stopper Rui Patricio had no chance of saving in the Wolves goal. Lingard was the recipient of the opening goal as West Ham secured a 3-2 away win over Wolves at the start of the month under review.

MAN UNITED BACKED FOR BIG WIN

Manchester United have been backed by one of their former players ahead of the big clash with arch rivals Liverpool in the Premier League. The standout match for the week 34 set of games in the Premier League this weekend is the Manchester United v Liverpool encounter widely regarded as the biggest game on the English calendar.

Former Manchester United player DmitarBerbatov has made his prediction for the game and he has backed his former team to beat Liverpool at home. The Betfair ambassador predicted the game on popular English media outlet Metro. According to him, the Red Devils would win 3-1 at the expense of the Premier League champions. Liverpool are the reigning champions but that won’t be for long with Manchester City on course to replace the Merseyside giants.

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has joked that the Arsenal fans would rip the place apart if the club signs Manchester United loanee Jesse Lingard who has been surprisingly linked with a move to North London.

HENDERSON WON’T START ENGLAND GAMES

England national team manager Gareth Southgate has revealed that Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson would be on the bench for the World Cup 2022 qualifiers against Albania and Poland this week. England will face hosts Albania on Sunday evening in the second match of their ten-game World Cup qualifiers before they play hosts to Poland next week Wednesday. Gareth Southgate told reporters after the San Marino game that Burnley shot stopper Nick Pope will start the Albania and Poland games in the absence of regular first choice Jordan Pickford. Everton shot stopper Pickford was left out of the England squad for this international break due to injury.

The injury sustained in the home game with Burnley in the league ensured that Pickford won’t be part of the England for the three England games during this March international break. His place in the team was taken by West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, who was formerly on the books of Manchester United. Sam Johnstone came through the Manchester United Academy just like what’s obtainable with Dean Henderson.

UNITED CLOSE IN ON UCL SPOT

Manchester United made a big step towards qualification for a place in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) next season after the win over West Ham United at the weekend. Manchester United defeated the Hammers for the third time this season to move a step closer to sealing a UCL spot ahead of the new season, which starts in August. West Ham United are one of several teams chasing a spot in next season’s Champions League and it was important for Manchester United to put daylight between them and the Hammers in the race to qualify for Europe’s premier club competition. The Red Devils beat West Ham 1-0 at home on Sunday night courtesy the own goal from Craig Dawson. The only goal of the game came from the own goal scored by the Hammers defender after good work from Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.With the win at home to West Ham, Manchester United need seven wins from the final nine games to secure a place in the Champions League once again. They were one of the four teams that represented the Premier League in the competition this season and their campaign came to an end in the group stage. Manchester United finished third behind French giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and RB Leipzig of the German Bundesliga in their group and they had to settle for a place in the Europa League round of 32 as a result. Their continued participation in that Europa League is in serious doubt after they played 1-1 with AC Milan at home in the first leg of their round of 16 tie last week Thursday. Milan need a goalless draw to seal a final eight berth by virtue of the away goals rule.

MAN UNITED RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

Manchester United are back to winning ways in the Premier League following the win over struggling Newcastle United. The Red Devils had played a surprising 1-1 draw with hosts West Brom in their last outing in the league and they needed to beat Newcastle United at home to resurrect their title challenge. For the West Brom game last weekend, Manchester United trailed to the home team in the opening minutes of the game through Senegalese striker MbayeNiang before Bruno Fernandes scored at the end of first half to rescue a point for his club. The draw at the home of the Baggies left Manchester United seven points adrift of league leaders and city rivals Manchester City having played a game more as at last weekend. Manchester City then moved ten points clear of the Red Devils by winning that outstanding game at Everton on Wednesday night. Manchester City beat hosts Everton 3-1 to establish a ten-point advantage at the Premier League summit.

ARE MANCHESTER UNITED KILLING VAN DE BEEK’S CAREER?

When Manchester United completed the signing of Ajax midfielder Donny Van de Beek last summer, the Red Devils’ fans all over the world were excited that they were getting a really top-class player in the team. Judging by the form he was in before signing for United, the Dutch international midfielder was tipped to be a big hit at Old Trafford and even had his move to the Theater of Dreams approved by Red Devils’ great Edwin Van Der Sar.


The former United goalkeeper was the man who sanctioned the sale of van de Beek from Ajax due to his connection with the Red Devils. However, things have not gone quite as expected for the midfielder, who continues to find playing time hard to come by at his new club. (more…)

MAN UNITED STAR JOINS WEST HAM

Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard has left the club to join West Ham United. Jesse Lingard has signed for the Hammers on loan from Manchester United for the remainder of the season. His loan transfer was confirmed on Thursday and he could make his debut for West Ham United against the Premier League champions. Manchester United loanee Lingard is in line to make his debut when the Hammers welcome Liverpool to the London Stadium this weekend. Jesse Lingard had to leave Manchester United on a temporary deal after he saw little action in the first half of the season.

Ahead of the Liverpool game, West Ham United are one of the form teams in the league with four straight wins. The Hammers are in fifth position on the Premier League log and two points adrift of Liverpool in the final Champions League spot. Only four teams will represent in the Champions League next season. Manchester United loanee Lingard will help West Ham United plug the attacking hole created as a result of the exit of Ivorian striker Sebastien Haller. In one of the biggest deals in the ongoing January transfer window according, Sebastien Haller signed for Dutch Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam fromWest Ham United for a reported fee of around £20m.

SHAW, LINDELOF FIT FOR BURNLEY CLASH

Manchester United defenders Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof are fit to take their place in the Manchester United defence for the rescheduled league clash with Burnley at Turf Moor on Tuesday. This is according to Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who revealed the fitness status of the two players during his pre-match presser for the game. Solskjaer disclosed thatEngland international Shaw and Swedish international Lindelofwere involved in training on Monday for the entire duration as his team stepped up preparation for the crucial Burnley game.

Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof were missing from the Manchester United at the weekend during the FA Cup third round win over Watford. Scottish national team player Scott McTominay scored the only goal in the opening minutes as Manchester United beat English Championship team Watford 1-0 at home to progress into the fourth round of the competition. Watford suffered relegation from the English top flight at the end of last season and they gave a good account of themselves against a second string Manchester United side but they were undone by the header from Scott McTominay after five minutes. Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his players are learning ‘The Manchester United Way’ according to Premier League legend Lee Dixon after their last gasp win over Wolverhampton Wanderers secured a crucial three points in the race for the Premier League title. The former Arsenal defender told Amazon Prime that the current set of Manchester United players are developing the quality of the old set of players under Sir Alex Ferguson. Red Devils boss Solskjaerplayed under Ferguson for several years and he knows all about ‘The Manchester United Way’. Lee Dixon stated that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has started to the develop the mentality of getting late wins in the new set of Manchester United players as evident while he was playing in the old team under Sir Alex Ferguson.


Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his players didn’t hit the heights of their last Premier League outing at home in the Wolves game on Tuesday night. Solskjaer masterminded a thumping victory over rivals Leeds United in the last game with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay, David James and Victor Lindelof getting on the scoresheet for the Red Devils. Manchester United scored six goals in a league game at home for the first time in almost a decade as the Old Trafford giants thrashed Leeds United 6-2 in their last game at the match venue before the Wolves game.
