Shankly, Revie, Busby and Clough all wanted to win the league before europe. It is the true test of a team and managers excellence.
FYI, United would already have 5 ECs by now if we didn’t have to face arguably the best team of all time in Barca. If we had shitty teams like Bruges and Moenchengladbach, like you had in 2 of your finals it’d be 5 each.

Not really, it is much harder to win a European Cup than a league. You never know, Liverpool could kick on over the next 5 years and equal or surpass United’s Leagues. Man U will not do that with European Cups – too much competition.
